InactiveI’ve been in the iPhone ecosystem since the 4S, and I remember when each new model felt like a big leap — better cameras, noticeably faster performance, even small design changes felt exciting.
These past few years, though, I’ve noticed something different. The upgrades feel more… subtle. Sure, the camera sensors are bigger, the battery lasts a bit longer, and the display tech keeps improving, but I rarely get that “wow, this changes everything” feeling anymore.Do you think Apple’s actually slowing down in innovation, or is it just that we’ve reached a point where improvements are naturally incremental? Maybe we’ve all just gotten used to high-end tech, so it takes more to impress us?
I’d love to hear from people who’ve upgraded in the last 2–3 years — did the change feel worth it to you, or did it feel more like a refinement of what you already had?

InactivePhones have matured so much that the leaps we used to see — like going from blurry photos to Crazy Cattle 3D crisp ones, or doubling processing speed — just aren’t possible every single year anymore.

InactiveI get what you mean — earlier iPhones felt like huge leaps, but now the upgrades seem more like refinements. The tech has matured, so big “wow” changes are rarer. Skipping a few generations makes upgrades feel more worthwhile though. Saw a good discussion on TalkSocially about this too.

InactiveI feel the same — new iPhones are more about refinements than big surprises. But honestly, even small improvements like clearer speakers matter to me. I sometimes use this tool to keep mine working well.

InactiveOkay, so I’m starting to suspect Apple’s just perfected the art of incremental improvements. 2xko It’s like they’re slowly sculpting a masterpiece – beautiful, but not exactly a paradigm shift. Still, gotta admit, the new camera *does* look sharper! 😉

frontwars It’s like they’re slowly adding sprinkles to an already amazing cake. Still a fantastic cake, mind you, but maybe not the life-altering dessert we used to expect. 🍰October 25, 2025 at 5:59 am #12440Anonymous
InactiveGreat discussion! I think the iPhone still has its charm, but we’ve become harder to impress because tech has evolved so fast. Small upgrades now feel normal. By the way, if you’re into tracking how time changes things, tools like the Chronological Age Calculator show how innovation just like age progresses steadily over time.
